Ecclesiastical Museum

A short distance from the beach of Adamas is the thousand year old church of Aghia Triada, which houses the Ecclesiastical Museum of Milos, while the entrance is an impressive tapestry that portrays the battle of good (White Centaur) versus evil ( Black Centaur). Visiting the museum you will discover a large part of Milos artistic heritage of centuries, such as icons and woodcarvings that reflect the booming economy of the Venetian Milos.
The church was built immediately after the period of Iconoclasm, but over time it went through renovations with the most intense one in the Frankish period, in which the effect has led to even today's architectural design and appearance.
There are many exhibits at the museum, among them images of the 14th century, one of which depicts the deposition, Cretan works, and various paintings of Emmanuel and Anthony Skordilis, two famous Cretan painters who careered in Milos by 1647 and beyond, creating a new style of post-Byzantine painting. Besides the images there are epitaphs, wooden desks, iconostasis of the 17th century, a bishop's throne, silver chalices and censers of the 18th century, gold votive, rings, necklaces, earrings and much more that will give you a taste of Mileans artistic life.
